This evenings meeting was quite relaxed as we only had 3 prepared speeches which were CC1, CC7 and ACB3. This allowed for Des Smith to give an educational on Humorous speaking competition.
The toast of the day was given by Di Sharp in commemoration of the people who enforce security. The word of the evening was ” Fundamental” and the theme of the evening was “Spring has sprung”.
We had one guest this meeting who was: Michael Silberman from CIS.
The following members where present: Des Smith, Di Sharp, Dick Hallett, Luther Feros, Tinahe Ncube, Christian Nyakanyanga, Sipho Mda, Gugu Bhebhe, Mpilo Khoza, and Kerry Friend.
We had three successful prepared speeches:
- CC1 – by Kerry Friend titled “Kerry My Friend” which was evaluated by Dick Hallet.
- CC7 – by Michael Silberman titled “Change is Coming” which was evaluated by Des Smith.
- ACB – by Tinahe Ncube titled “Secure Your Future” which was evaluated by Di Sharp.
Later on in the evening Gugu Bhebhe chaired the table topics session and she did a good job for her first time doing table topics.
At the end of the meeting the grizzly bear was awarded to Kerry Friend for an excellent speech using props.
Please note there will be a Humorous and Impromptu Contest on Wed 10th Sept. There will be 3 meetings in September, being our usual meetings on 3rd and 17th September (1st and 3rd Wed), and the Contest on 10th Sept. The Area Contest will be on Thurs 18th September
