Yet another fascinating meeting by The Johannesburg Toastmasters Club. We had a special visit by the Director of Division L, Lazola Belle, who also gave a prepared speech titled “Dangerous”, it was evaluated by Dick Hallett, our Distinguished Toastmaster. As you will soon find out, the grizzly bear was awarded to Lazola for his sterling work on this evening. He had also come to officially recognise our club as the home club of the Division L3 Director, our very own Luther Feros.
Then, our president Christian Nyakanyanga, was doing a TV interview on the night as his ACB project. He chose Lazola as his guest on his TV show (The Grizzly News) and Lazola had to answer Christian’s questions on his goals for Division L, almost impromptu. We had 18 members and guests in attendance this evening.
The word of the evening was “Compel”, which means to call forth, or to summon. The toast of the evening was done by Sipho Mda, and he proposed a toast to the South African billionaire Patrice Motsepe, who has decided to donate half his wealth to charity.
Our Toastmaster of the Evening was Naseera Ebrahim, and we had the following guests at our meeting: Lazola Belle, Thando Tshabalala, Tamara Bethwand, Musa Ngema, Bheki Maseko
We had four successful prepared speeches:
- CC3 by Amiel Holilal titled ” How to become a Millionaire” evaluated by Luis de Sousa
- ACB by Christian Nyakanyanga titled “Moments with the Director”, evaluated by Des Smith
- ACB by Sipho Mda titled “a toast to Luther Feros” evaluated by Di Sharp
- ACB by Lazola Belle titled “Dangerous” evaluated by Dick Hallett
Grizzly bear was awarded to Lazola Belle (Division Director) for his contribution to the meeting. The next meeting scheduled for Wednesday the 19th of August 2015.
